Greetings from the Southeast, Central and South American, and Caribbean (SECSA-CHRIE) Federation Board and our host institution, the University of South Carolina, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management! Please join us for our 9th Annual SECSA-CHRIE Conference from Thursday, February 27th to Saturday, March 1st, 2025.

We hope you will consider attending this event and presenting an abstract for the conference proceedings. Federation members are strongly encouraged, and all members of ICHRIE are invited.

We are excited to announce a two-pronged academic focus for this conference and program: Research and Pedagogy. Attendees will be asked to submit works in hospitality and tourism, emphasizing hospitality and tourism research or pedagogical practices. Accordingly, this highlights a broad range of contemporary topics relevant to research, education, and industry practices in hospitality, tourism, and related fields of study.

Research Track:
There are two options for submission under the research track.

Option1 (Track Chair: Dr. Soyoung Park): Completed Empirical Research Paper – a maximum of 1000-word structured abstract for a formal paper presentation (15 minutes + 5 minutes for Q&A)
Option 2 (Track Chair: Dr. Wei Wei): Work-in-Progress Paper – a maximum of 500-word abstract for a shorter presentation (10 minutes + 5 minutes for Q&A).

Research Track Requirements

  • To be considered for the completed empirical research paper, researchers must submit a structured abstract (1000 words max., in English, including tables/figures, but excluding references) by the deadline (November 17th, 2024, 11:59 pm EST).

  • To be considered for the work-in-progress paper, researchers must submit a structured abstract (500 words max., in English, including tables/figures, but excluding references) by the deadline (November 17th, 2024, 11:59 pm EST).

  • Authors may be the lead author on a maximum of 2 papers. Conference proceedings will be added to the CHRIE website following the conference.

  • Use single-spaced 12-point font, Times New Roman, one-inch margins, in APA format.

  • The presentation schedule will be finalized after author registration is completed.

  • All papers are to be submitted online via EasyChair.

  • Please submit the file in Microsoft Word form and name the file with your last name and first initial (i.e., BrownT.doc).

  • Once submitted, papers will undergo a double-blind review process.

Pedagogy Track Requirements

  • The Pedagogy Track will feature multiple workshops to provide practical lessons and teaching

modules that faculty can use in their respective classrooms or programs. These workshop
presenters will share best practices, innovative teaching lessons, and/or examples from their
        classrooms.

  • All workshops should include handouts or “takeaways” attendees may apply to their teaching.

The goal is for attendees to leave each session with new ideas that they can apply immediately in

their classroom and at their university or school.

  • To present in this track, please submit a 1-page proposal, using single-spaced 12-point font,
Times New Roman, one-inch margins, in APA format by the deadline (November 17th, 2024, 11:59 pm EST) to Dr. Cindy Choi at echoi2@olemiss.edu.
