SECSA CHRIE 2023

In academia, the universal magic of hospitality refers to the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for students and staff. This includes providing a sense of community, fostering relationships, and prioritizing the needs and well-being of individuals. In the context of research, it can also mean extending a warm welcome to visiting scholars and ensuring that they have the resources and support they need to be successful.

In the industry, the universal magic of hospitality is often associated with the hospitality and tourism sectors, where it refers to the ability to create a positive experience for guests by providing excellent customer service and going above and beyond to exceed their expectations. It also encompasses the ability to adapt to cultural differences and make guests feel comfortable and at home. The universal magic of hospitality is essential to building a loyal customer base and creating a positive reputation for the business. In other industries, such as healthcare, the universal magic of hospitality may also be relevant in terms of creating a warm and welcoming environment for patients and their families.

Dear Attendees,
On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 8th Annual SECSA-CHRIE conference, hosted by Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida in beautiful Orlando, Florida. This is the first time since 2020 this conference is back to its original format, and we are all thrilled and honored to welcome you. This year's theme, 'The Universal Magic of Hospitality,' is timely and current, reflecting the changes occurring in our industry and academia.

Over the course of two days, the conference once again offers a great opportunity for all of us to get together in mutual learning and collaborative environments where ideas exchange and dialogues can be started and continued. We will have the opportunity to engage in stimulating discussions, attend various panel sessions, and participate in interactive workshops and research discussions focused on advancing the field of hospitality. Our keynote speakers and panelists are some of the most respected leaders in the industry, and we are privileged to have them share their knowledge and expertise with us.

As a SECSA-CHRIE president, I want to express my sincere gratitude to our generous sponsors, whose support has been invaluable in making this event possible. I also want to extend my appreciation to Dean Wang for his support and generosity in hosting this year's conference. Let us come together to learn, share, and celebrate the 'Universal Magic of Hospitality' and leave this conference with a renewed sense of purpose and passion for advancing the field of hospitality.

Yours in Hospitality,
